Together, through technology
Mdm Lang Aing and her sister, Mdm Geek Boi, 67 used to be active members of GoodLife! before “Circuit Breaker” kicked in. The social distancing measures greatly impacted their lives; not only were they unable to meet each other, they could no longer partake in the activities at the GoodLife! Centre. Their lives came to a standstill. Initially, they were indifferent to the persuasion of GoodLife! staff to learn new mobile applications, but the motivation to participate in the online programmes organised by GoodLife! helped the sisters plucked up their courage to learn Zoom app. Today, physical distance no longer deter them from leading an active lifestyle.
Language no longer a barrier to learn digital skills
Age and language are no barrier if you are determined to learn. Mr Cheah is one good role model! He had wanted to master the use of WhatsApp to better communicate with his friends. He jumped at the chance when the E-seniors programme trainer reached out to him. At 85 years old and understand very little Mandarin, Mr Cheah was able to learn the use of WhatsApp through one-on-one teaching conducted in Teochew. He was grateful to connect and communicate with his friends living abroad through the E-seniors programme.
Call any of the GoodLife! centres to enquire or register for a complimentary session.
